WINGS – by Vanya Kaushik

wings a poem by vanya kaushik

My back hurts, covered in deep red it is,
My shouts becoming louder and sharper,
I feel them tearing my skin,
I feel the softness but with sharp ends,
Yet I can’t see them,

Yet I’m not sure whether to be happy,
But I have belief, have faith,
Now the mirror shows what I desire,
Now they are complete and strong,
Yes! I got my wings, spread out,
Now just a height is needed,

And I jump, and I fall,
Oh no! Before kissing the ground, I rise,
I rise and I fly, fly, fly and fly,
For now I have my wings…
